Ratchet & Clank studio Insomniac Games has been entrusted with Spider-Man , and we know next to nothing about the game so far, which makes its potential E3 appearance even more exciting. Hopefully this year’s E3 will give fans a look at some actual in-game footage, along with plot details and features fans can look forward to when the web-slinger’s next game finally hits store shel
PLAY THIS GAME!!! Dicey Dungeons is dice-based in both a mechanical and literal sense, and is by far the most underrated title on this list. It turns standard roguelike and deck-building mechanics on their heads with its dice-based actions and differing playstyles between its six characters. I tend to be very lukewarm on deck-building or card games, and while games like Slay the Spire are fun, that still served as a roadblock for
Just like the Trials series, half of the fun is in mastering the course, and a few unique objectives across the game’s sixteen tracks and four mountains add to its replayability. Lonely Mountains: Downhill can still be quite difficult and somewhat irritating at points when you just can’t get a part of the course down, but overall Lonely Mountains: Downhill is a soothing and relaxing game to play if you aren’t doing anything else or want to do something more than just listen to John Mulaney, Ben Hanson, or Andrew Y
With Nintendo forgoing a traditional press conference yet again, the extent of the Big N’s presence at E3 is a bit of an unknown factor. However, we do know that Nintendo plans on hosting a Nintendo Direct presentation like it did last year, and this time it will be headlined by Super Mario Odyssey , the biggest Nintendo Switch exclusive game on the horizon. What we’ve seen of Super Mario Odyssey so far has been plenty impressive, but along with more gameplay footage, here’s hoping that Nintendo also gives the highly anticipated game a release date come E3 next w
Prior to E3, Sony confirmed that its presentation will primarily focus on four adventure games news: Death Stranding , Hideo Kojima’s first post-Konami project; Ghost of Tsushima from the developers of Sly Cooper and Infamous ; the PS4 exclusive Spider-Man project in development at Insomniac Games; and of course, the long-awaited The Last of Us: Part
As far as major presenters go, no one has been as open about what it’s bringing to E3 as Ubisoft. Ubisoft has confirmed seven games it will be showcasing at the event this year, with major reveals planned for games like Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 . Rumors point to a new Splinter Cell game being announced during Ubisoft’s presentation as well, with the stealth action franchise having been dormant for about five ye
I don’t really have any problems with Astral Chain and it’s super innovative, which is why I gave it a 10 earlier this year. Astral Chain features the tight and rewarding action PlatinumGames is known for but is quite accessible at the same time. Its detective case-solving portions feel like better versions of similar segments in the Batman: Arkham games. Astral Chain is one of the best-looking games on Nintendo Switch. And finally, the Legion is the most innovative thing to happen to action games since Bayonetta’s Witch Time. Creating a unique weapon-user relationship I’ve never seen in a game before, Astral Chain remains fun and manageable while still tasking players with controlling two things at o
There are, however, a few third-party titles that Microsoft has included as part of their press conferences in past years, that should be front and center once again — chiefly among them Modern Warfare 3 . With the map exclusivity deal between Microsoft and Call of Duty comes an assumption that Microsoft will be the company to show off the first demo of the g
Controlling combat is the familiar button mashing affair that gamers are used to with Fable . Battles normally boil down to repeatedly hitting the X button (melee attack) with the occasional magic spell thrown in for good measure. The combat can get boring quickly, but every now and then the hero pulls out a fancy finishing move that makes it worth not checking out during battle. The problem is the finishing moves are completely random and players can do the same combat actions 10 times yet only see the finishing move o
The game is unofficially split into three sections. The first section involves traveling throughout Albion, gaining support from the people, and leading the revolution against the king. Heroes can gain this support by completing quests or interacting with people. Many of the quests will result in making a promise to a leader of the town (more on those later). Interacting with the people directly is a great way to earn friends and can eventually lead to marriage and children. Unlike previous Fable games, only one person can be influenced at a time. To further emphasize this, starting an interaction with someone causes the screen to fade to black and come back with only the hero and the other person in focus. While it’s not a huge deal, that extra 1-2 seconds while the screen fades and comes back gets really annoying after 12 hours of game p
